Del Mar California, is an easy 18 miles access off Interstate 5 north of downtown San Diego. Del Mar, which means "of the sea", lives up to its name in every way. It is a coastal community with the most popular beaches that offer plenty of surfing spots and is a popular resort destination. It is one of the most desirable and prized communities in the San Diego County area today. In fact, the race track is located on Jimmy Durante Boulevard right off Interstate 5. It is a 43-day racing event held from the end of July through mid-September and brings in enthusiasts from all over the world. Another event that is held annually at the Del Mar Fairgrounds and brings in the locals as well as visitors from all over, is the San Diego County Fair (formerly known as the Del Mar Fair). It is the fifth largest fair in North America and it runs every year from the second week of June and ends on July 4. The fair offers fun exhibits, concerts of well-known artists, contests, attractions and food in so many varieties.

Del Mar is truly a gem and a delightful upscale residential community with a long and very interesting history.
